Feeling Frustrated!

Is there no cure for a cold?! Really! I’ve been battlinbg one cold after another for a month straight. Before I can even get over one cold, the next round strikes! It has gotten so bad, that I’m dealing with a horrendous cough that causes me so much pain in my ribs, and of course, my belly, since I’m 34 weeks pregnant. I just want to start feeling better already, but nothing seems to help!

First off, who am I? My name is Jessica Urquhart. Writing has always been a hobby of mine, which got its start in middle and highschool, when I'd write short stories for the amusement of my friends and classmates. Currently, I'm working on my first book, my one true love of a story I've been saying I would one day write. Well, that day has come. If you'd care to follow my musings on the adventures and hurdles of writing my first fantasy book, then please, read my blog.

    1. I shoulder good on the vitamins, since my prenatal have all of those and more. Not using echinacea, but I’ve started drinking another herbal tea blend that has thyme and several other herbs for cough and cold. I also have thyme extract. So far, I’m not feeling the results, but I’ve only been drinking the tea for about 2 days and I really have to force myself to drink tea instead of only water. Normally it doesn’t take much with natural remedies for me to get better, but this last month has been the worst round of colds in my entire life!

      1. Check with your OB person about echinacea, I didn’t realize you were pregnant. But that is probably contributing, your body is trying to grow a human and fight off viruses at the same time!

    1. Tried that too. Even blended half a cluster of raw garlic at a time with apple cider vinegar, honey and a little apple juice and drank it by the shot full about 3 times a day. For a couple days it seems to help, and then the cough gets worse again. 😦

      1. Me too! I went to the doctor this morning. She took blood to find out if it is a bacterial infection, so we know if it is worth it to take antibiotics, and for the meantime, gave me a prescription of homeopathic medicine.

  1. Could this be allergies, as opposed to colds? I have allergy issues, and some of them are much like a cold. Just a thought. I hope you get better soon. This is the last thing you need, being pregnant, needless to say!

    1. Not likely, as I never have real allergies. Just a sniffle from time to time. Anyway, whatever this is, it’s really going around. Not just in my household, but all the kids at my daughter’s kindergarten are bring it home and families are getting hit with one round after another.

  2. I’ve heard that the vitamins recommended above are more effective when you get them from foods that naturally contain them (like kiwis and stuff). Apparently most of what you take in supplements passes right through you because your body can’t process it in time. Hope this helps and hope you’re finally cold-free

    1. Yep, very true. I try to get what I can from fresh organic fruits and veggies and when I supplement, I use food based, organic vitamins. Hopefully they are as good as they are marketed to be! 😅
